Ice Cream BINGO Ottawa
With one summer in Ottawa under my belt, I had the chance to try a few ice cream spots. I can say with the udder-most enthusiasm that the ice cream game here is STRONG!
I’ve put together a list of my fave spots in Ottawa so far, and I’ve also created an “Ice Cream Crawl Bingo Card” for you to download and play this summer. Grab your printable game card here. Have fun, and let me know if you discover something new or if there is a place that I’ve missed!
Winnipeg, I’ve updated your BINGO card for 2024! There have been some developments in the ice cream scene, like “RIP Le Monkey Bar” and “How did I forget about Decadence?”. Grab the latest card here. Most of the places that I wrote about are still going strong. Refresh your memory by reading that blog post.
Don’t live in Winnipeg or Ottawa, but still want to play? I got you. Grab your blank game card here!
The Purple Cow
Nepean
This gem is a little out of the way and not ‘grammable, but TRUST ME, Purple Cow Chocolate And Ice Cream is worth the trip! They are generous scoopers and the price is so reasonable. I know right, in this ecomomy?! Take a 15 minute stroll down to Nepean Pond Park afterwards.
La Cigale
Chelsea
My step-mom is not an ice cream person, but she informed me that she still thinks about her ice cream from La Cigale. We stopped in after a beautiful hike around Pink Lake in Gatineau Park. Truly an memorable experience! I keep coming back for the amazing flavours and the friendly “teenager summer staff”!
Moo Shu
Centretown
Find Moo Shu Ice Cream at their brick and morter on Bank street, or at the Parkdale Night Market every Wednesday evening throughout the summer. They have the most inventive flavours, super tasty ice cream sandwiches, and a community-minded focus. Check out their Suspended Scoop donation program and run, don’t walk, to get something this summer!
Beachconers Microcreamery
Brittania
There is more I can say about The Beachconers Microcreamery but for right now, I’ll leave it at “yum”! It’s really close to Britannia Beach or the Britannia Conservation Area/Mud Lake trails. It’s the idyllic “summer ice cream and a stroll” spot! They recently opened up a new spot in Hintonburg called Love & Electric!
The Merry Dairy
Hintonburg
Here you will find amazing flavours, with high quality ice cream. The Merry Dairy even offers Wisconson style frozen custard which I have yet to try! There is a variety of Vegan, Gluten Free, Soy Free options that are clearly labelled. Make sure to go before school gets out, because all summer there will be a line down the block! Or track their ice cream truck and mark two spots on your BINGO card!
Farinella Snack Bar
Little Italy
I’ve been on the look out for good gelato here in Ottawa. I miss Sunday Family dinners with my Mom, which always involved a stop at Eva’s Gelato. Enter Farinella, who just opened a classic Italian Snack Bar right on Preston street!
Coco's Café & Creamery
Whitehaven
Blink and you will miss Coco’s Café & Creamery as you drive down Carling Avenue. It’s incognito, located inside Coco Auto Service and Tire Centre, with a little ordering window. You will be glad I brought it to your attention when you stop in for a Twist Cone, BonDeluge, Shake, Affogato or take home a pint of hard ice cream. My only advice is to avoid the Banana-flavour soft-serve. I tried it so you don’t have to!
